Alpha Arbutin

Alpha arbutin is a natural skin brightener from bearberry; an edible red berry that is a favourite food of bears. It can lighten the appearance of hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme in skin known as tyrosinase.

Since tyrosinase is needed for melanin synthesis, alpha arbutin can visibly lighten freckles, age spots, and improve overall evenness of skin tone. Alpha arbutin is considered a safe and gentle naturally derived ingredient.

Alpha arbutin can take up to two months for visible effects to take place, so consistency is key.
