Dextran is a naturally derived polysaccharide created through the fermentation of sugars, typically by Leuconostocbacteria. This process transforms simple sugars into a complex carbohydrate composed of glucose units, giving dextran its unique ability to retain moisture and form protective films on the skin. Originally discovered in medical applications for its biocompatibility, dextran has made its way into skincare for its gentle, hydrating, and skin-soothing properties. Skin Benefits of Dextran

Dextran in skincare functions as a humectant, attracting and locking in moisture to keep the skin hydrated and supple.
