Glycerin

Glycerin is a humectant that works to draw moisture into the upper layers of the skin. It also supports proper function of the skin’s moisture barrier and can help active ingredients better penetrate skin. Because dry climates lack moisture in the air, glycerin may draw water from within the skin under such circumstances. For this reason, it functions best when combined with occlusive ingredients, like oils, to lock moisture in place.
