Myristyl Myristate

Myristyl myristate is an ester derived from myristyl alcohol, a nourishing fatty alcohol, and myristic acid, a saturated fatty acid. It functions as an emollient, texture enhancer, and co-emulsifier. Myristyl myristate naturally occurs in several types of oils and fats, such as nutmeg and coconut. Since it melts near body temperature, it imparts a lush, velvety sensation on application. It also gives products more body, aids in spreadability and helps stabilise the formula by keeping the oil and water components from separating.
