# Cipher Skincare

> An independent skincare lab in Perth, Western Australia. Cipher formulates and micro-batch manufactures its own hybrid-function skin treatments end-to-end, in its own lab. Eight formulas. All vegan, cruelty-free, recyclable packaging. Ships internationally.

The science is dense so the routine doesn't have to be. Every formula is built on three layers: delivery systems that get actives to the layer they act on (microsponge, nanoliposome, cationic charge, microbiome activation); active synergy that is tested rather than assumed; and barrier integrity maintained throughout, so potency never comes at the barrier's expense. The goal was never more products — it was better chemistry.

A short-contact retinoid carrying a high dose of retinal — 0.2% retinaldehyde — applied for two to fifteen minutes and then rinsed off. Retinaldehyde is one conversion step from retinoic acid, a more direct route than retinol. The short-contact format is what makes the dose workable: full retinoid remodelling without an overnight leave-on commitment. Contact time builds with experience, starting at one application a week for two minutes. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Daily sunscreen essential.
